MANILA, Philippines — For now, there is no wage increase yet for domestic workers in Metro Manila, Calabarzon, and SOCCSKSARGEN, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) said on Wednesday.
DOLE said this is because the Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Boards of the said areas are still conducting public hearings.
“The wage boards in the National Capital Region, Calabarzon, and SOCCSKSARGEN, however, are yet to issue their respective wage orders for domestic workers as they are still conducting public hearings,” the DOLE said in a statement.
On the other hand, domestic workers or kasambahay in the 13 regions in the country have either started to benefit from higher wages or are set to have their higher wages implemented this month.
The wage hikes in the following seven regions will take effect this June:
- Bicol Region: ₱4,000 starting June 18
- Northern Mindanao: ₱3,500 – ₱4,500 starting June 18
- Central Luzon: ₱4,500 – ₱5,000 starting June 20
- Davao Region: ₱4,500 starting June 20
- Zamboanga Peninsula: ₱3,500 – ₱4,000 starting June 25
- Eastern Visayas: ₱4,500 – ₱5,000 starting June 27

The new minimum wage in these six regions has already took effect earlier this month:

As from the wage hike of domestic workers in Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM), the DOLE has said that it’s the prerogative of the autonomous government to impose their own salary hikes.
