SAN ANTONIO, Zambales–—A total of 750 fisherfolk from five coastal towns in this province were the latest to receive fuel subsidy amid the rising oil prices.
In a statement Monday, the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) in Central Luzon said the new group of subsidy beneficiaries was composed of registered fisherfolk from San Narciso, San Antonio, Cabangan, Iba, and Botolan towns.
The fishermen each received a P3,000 fuel subsidy in the form of discount cards during the distribution Monday in Botolan.
At least 200 other fisherfolk in Zambales had received the cash cards when the project was launched at the Subic Fish Port in March, according to BFAR.
“The agency has identified 6,709 fisherfolk-beneficiaries from Central Luzon, out of which 3,352 are from the province of Zambales,” BFAR said.
