LEGAZPI CITY—Residents in ashfall-affected areas in Juban town in Sorsogon were sent back Friday to the evacuation center due to another possible eruption of Mt. Bulusan.

Arian Aguallo, information officer of municipal disaster risk reduction and management officer in Juban, said they ordered the pre-emptive evacuation at 2 p.m. in villages with vulnerable populations.

Salvador Mendoza, spokesperson for the provincial government, said as of 3 p.m., 19 seniors and 14 children from Barangay Puting Sapa were sent to the Juban Evacuation Center in Barangay Tughan.

Over 400 villagers were decamped Wednesday after clearing the ash spewed by the volcano on June 5.

The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) warned the public of a possible eruption due to more seismic activity at the volcano.

In its 5 a.m. bulletin, Phivolcs said it recorded 149 volcanic earthquakes in the past 24 hours, much higher than the five recorded on June 9. INQ
