Free movies on Rizal’s birthday
To celebrate the 150th birth anniversary of Dr. Jose P. Rizal, the National Commission for Culture and Arts, National Historical Commission of the Philippines and the National Parks Development Committee will hold a special screening of movies on the life of the national hero.
Among the movies are Tikoy Aguiluz’s “Rizal sa Dapitan” and Marilou Diaz Abaya’s “Jose Rizal” which will be shown at 8 p.m. today (Sunday) and tomorrow (Monday) at the Rizal Open Air Auditorium, Rizal Park, Manila.
The movie “Sisa,” starring actress Jodi Santamaria, will also be shown today. It was produced by actor turned producer Carlo Maceda and written by Frank Rivera.
Also in the cast of “Sisa” are Jay Manalo, Christian Vasquez, Jao Mapa, Jeffrey Hidalgo and Chinggoy Alonso. Alan Paule plays Rizal.
“The movie depicts the life of Sisa symbolizing how Filipino women were victims of our culture and society during Spanish times,” said Maceda.
The screenings, which are open to the public, are co-presented by the Komisyon sa Wikang Filipino, Vibal Foundation, Viva Films, GMA Films and OnCam Productions.
