MANILA, Philippines—A P100,000 cash reward has been offered for anyone who can provide authorities with information on the whereabouts of the second robber who attacked University of the Philippines (UP) student Lordei Camille Hina last month on the Diliman, Quezon City, campus.
In a statement posted on its website, the UP administration said the reward was put up by House Speaker Feliciano Belmonte Jr., who met with UP president Alfredo Pascual at the House of Representatives Tuesday.
Belmonte represents Quezon City’s fourth district, which includes the 493-hectare UP Diliman campus.
The police have been looking for Dante Santos, one of two men who robbed and attacked Hina—a 20-year-old political science major—inside the University Student Council office in Vinzons Hall on February 1.
The other robber, Dan Mar Vicencio, was immediately arrested after a UP security guard accosted him outside Vinzons Hall.
Vicencio, a tattoo artist, has been charged with robbery under the Revised Penal Code and illegal possession of a bladed weapon under a city ordinance.
The first offense has a recommended bail of P180,000 while the second has a prescribed bail of P2,000. Both cases are pending before Quezon City courts.
Since being stabbed in the head, Hina has been confined at Capitol Medical Center where a six-man team of specialists composed of a neurosurgeon, neurologist, internal medicine specialist, ophthalmologist, heart specialist and physical therapist continue to monitor her progress.
Initially in a coma, she regained consciousness after several days.
In a text message to the Inquirer, UP assistant vice president for public affairs Danilo Arao said Hina’s hospital bills have so far reached more than P975,000.
Students, faculty members and employees have initiated a fundraising drive to help her family.
