Orate siblings dare former QC lawmaker Daza to come out, tell the truth

MANILA, Philippines—The children of Noel Orate Sr. on Tuesday challenged former lawmaker Nanette Castelo-Daza to come out and reveal what really happened on Feb. 10, the night their father was shot dead by her son-in-law inside her house in Quezon City.

Noel Jr. and his sister Noelle Rose also belied the former Quezon City congresswoman’s claims that Orate, who was Daza’s former boyfriend, had money woes and that he tried to borrow money from her.

Noelle said her father was able to provide the family with their needs as he was gainfully employed.

“Patay na nga ang ama namin, ginawa niyo pa siyang “double dead” (Our father is already dead and yet you killed him a second time) with your propaganda. Why don’t you come out and tell the truth. If you have nothing to hide, you come out,” she dared.

The Orate siblings made the comments after Tuesday morning’s preliminary investigation of the case against Daza’s son-in-law, Romeo Allan Robes, who allegedly shot the victim several times inside the house of Daza.

Noel Jr. also revealed unknown persons were lurking in their neighborhood, apparently monitoring their house and movements.

The Orates were accompanied by their lawyer Eduardo Bringas but Robes did not appear to file his counter-affidavit as scheduled.

This was after the Department of Justice took over the reinvestigation of Orate’s death as requested by his family.

His children asked for the new investigation as they maintained that their father was murdered on Feb. 10, 2012 inside Daza’s house. The Orate family insists that the case should be murder and not homicide.
