DOJ recommends murder raps vs former Palawan gov, brod
MANILA, Philippines—The Department of Justice has recommended the filing of murder charges against former Palawan Governor Mario Joel Reyes and his brother, incumbent Coron, Palawan Mayor Mario eyes Jr. for the 2011 killing of broadcaster and environmentalist Dr. Gerry Ortega.
In a 28-page resolution, the new DOJ panel of prosecutors reversed a previous ruling that found a lack of evidence against the Reyes brothers and also decided to charge former Palawan provincial administrator Romeo Seratubias, Arturo Regalado and Valentin Lecias.
However, the new panel said there were not enough evidence to charge former Marinduque Governor Jose Antonio Carrion, who was earlier linked to Ortega’s murder in Puerto Princesa, Palawan on January 24, 2011.
