Release teachers’ extra pay soonest, Comelec told

MANILA, Philippines — The Alliance of Concerned Teachers (ACT) urged the Commission on Elections (Comelec) on Tuesday to hasten the processing and distribution of the promised P2,000 additional compensation for teacher-poll workers who rendered extra hours of service on May 9.
In a letter addressed to Comelec Executive Director Bartolome Sinocruz Jr., the ACT said it was “highly anticipating” the remuneration, as the group submitted an initial list of more than 5,249 poll workers eligible for the honoraria.
“ACT has received reports that up till now, teachers who have rendered extended election service have yet to receive the promised P2,000 additional compensation,” the group said in a letter dated June 7.
“All poll workers who served for more than 24 hours on election day shall also be eligible to receive the additional compensation of P2,000,” ACT said.
