DOH warns public of scammers using names of health officials to solicit money
MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Health (DOH) on Sunday warned the public of online scammers who use the names of DOH officials to solicit money.
“The department reminds the public that it will not solicit such favors from other DOH units, government agencies nor the public,” said the DOH in a public advisory.
According to the DOH, the said scam typically begins with a random number posing as a DOH official and then solicits favors in acquiring gift cards.
“In light of this, any individual who experiences such modus should not share personal information to these scammers and instead block and immediately report them to the authorities,” it added.
Incidents should be reported to the NBI-Anti Fraud Division of the Philippine National Police Anti-Cybercrime Group, said the DOH.
