MANILA, Philippines — Workers in the Calabarzon (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, and Quezon) and Davao regions are expected to get salary hikes amid the soaring prices of goods.

This, after the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) announced that the Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Boards (RTWPBs) in the said regions have issued wage orders recommending a ₱47 to ₱92 salary hike for workers in Calabarzon, and ₱47 for workers in the Davao Region.

The DOLE said the wage increases shall be given in two tranches, where workers would benefit with the effectivity of the new wage order and six months thereafter.

The order of the RTWPBs will need to be affirmed by the National Wages and Productivity Commission before its implementation, the DOLE said.

The Calabarzon wage board set the new minimum wage in the non-agriculture sector to ₱470 in the extended metropolitan area and in the cities of Antipolo and Dasmariñas; ₱429 in the component cities and first class municipalities; and ₱390 in second, third, fourth, fifth, and sixth class municipalities.

The new minimum wage rates in the agriculture sector are now set at ₱429 in the cities of Antipolo and Dasmariñas, and in first class municipalities; ₱390 in the second and third class municipalities; and ₱350 in fourth, fifth, and sixth class municipalities.

Minimum wage workers in retail and service establishments employing not more than 10 workers in Calabarzon will receive a ₱47 increase, raising their salary to ₱350 from the previous ₱303.

The wage board of Davao City also set a ₱47 wage increase for workers in agriculture, non-agriculture (industrial/commercial and retail/service establishments employing more than 10 workers), and retail/service establishments employing not more than 10 workers.

After full implementation of the wage hike tranches, the daily minimum wage rate in Davao region will increase from ₱391 to ₱438 in the agriculture sector; from ₱396 to ₱443 in the non-agriculture sector; and from ₱381 to ₱443 for retail/service establishments employing not more than 10 workers.

The Davao wage board also set the new monthly wage rate for domestic workers at ₱4,500 and standardized wages for chartered cities, first-class municipalities and other municipalities.

Some 1.8 million workers in Calabarzon and more than 150,000 workers in the Davao region are expected to benefit from the wage increase, the DOLE said.

The wage increases for Calabarzon and the Davao region are part of the series of minimum wage increases across the country.

Metro Manila and Western Visayas were the first regions to receive minimum wage hikes for this year.
