Active COVID-19 cases in Quezon down to 2

An unidentified gunman shot and killed a local businessman on Monday afternoon (May 30) in Candelaria town in Quezon province, report said Tuesday.

LUCENA CITY – The number of active COVID-19 cases in Quezon is down to two as of Friday, provincial health authorities reported.

Latest data from the Integrated Provincial Health Office (IPHO) showed that the two remaining active virus carriers in the province are from this capital city.

From April 16 to May 15 and May 18 to 24, the city was declared free of COVID-19 cases.

Last month, the number of new COVID-19 cases in the province dropped to 14 from 21 in April, 88 in March and 772 in February.

Lucena City  is still under Alert Level 1, while the rest of Quezon is still under Alert Level 2 until June 15.

As of Friday, Quezon has recorded 32,875 COVID-19 cases, 31,313 recoveries, and 1,560 deaths since the pandemic erupted in March 2020.

Governor Danilo Suarez urged unvaccinated residents to get their jabs for their safety and the protection of the community and asked the public to remain vigilant in the battle against COVID-19.
