Talisay Landing triathlon March 25

TRIATHLETES from around the country are expected to converge in Talisay City on March 25 for the 1st Talisay Triathlon Race-American Landing Celebration.

The race starts and ends at the new Talisay City Fish Port.

Jeanette Villagonzalo of the Talisay City Sports Commission said the upcoming race will allow them to test the city’s capability in being part of the Cobra Ironman Philippines, which is the biggest triathlon event to be held in Cebu for the first time this August.

A part of the route of the Talisay triathlon will also be used in the Ironman event.

FEATURED STORIES

Triatheletes as far as Dapitan, Bohol , Dalaguete and Boracay have already made inquiries about the event.

The deadline for registration is on March 16.

Veteran race organizers are helping Talisay City with Benjoe Gimenez acting as the race director, Joel Baring as the bike and run chief and Lito Lapure as the swim chief.

The event will have two age categories—the adults and the kids.

The adults will have ages 19 and below, 20-29, 30-29, 40-49 and the 50 above while the kids will have the 10 and under, 11-12 and 13-14.

The adult will have the 1,000-meter swim, 30-kilometer bike and 7.5K run while the kids will have the 300m swim, 8K bike and 3K run.

There will also be a mixed relay in teams of two or three members and will follow the distance for the adults category./CORRESPONDENT MARS G. ALISON
