DOH: 398 dengue cases recorded in Bicol from January to May 21

LEGAZPI CITY––The Department of Health Center for Health Development (DOH-CHD) in Bicol logged 398 dengue cases in the region from Jan. 1 to May 21, the agency reported Thursday, June 2.

A DOH-CHD surveillance report said 228 of these cases were in Camarines Sur province, followed by Camarines Norte with 77, and Catanduanes with 42.

Masbate had 26, Albay, 21, and Sorsogon had four cases.

Dengue or dengue fever is a mosquito-borne illness that causes a high fever and flu-like symptoms in mild cases. In severe cases, patients experience belly pain, vomiting, and bleeding from the nose or gums.
