SUBIC, Zambales––At least 21 cases of dengue fever had been recorded in this town since April, according to the Municipal Health Office (MHO).

The rise in dengue cases has prompted local health officials to take proactive measures, such as fogging to destroy mosquito-breeding sites and prevent an outbreak.

Local healthcare workers have also been conducting NS1 (dengue virus antigen detection) tests on residents who display symptoms of dengue fever.

But the MHO said no deaths related to dengue fever were registered this year.

Dengue is a viral infection transmitted to humans through the bite of an infected Aedes aegypti mosquito.
