MANILA, Philippines — Pharmally officials Mohit Dargani and Linconn Ong have been ordered released from the Pasay City Jail on June 2.
Senate President Vicente Sotto III has already signed separate release orders for Dargani and Ong, Senate Sergeant-at-Arms retired Maj. Gen. Rene Samonte told reporters in a message on Wednesday.
“Pirmado na ni [It’s already signed by] SP (Senate President), June 2, 2022,” Samonte said, referring to their release date.
The orders directed the Senate Sergeant-at-Arms to hand over the release papers to Pasay City Jail warden Supt. Ramil Vestra for “immediate implementation.”
Dargani and Ong’s expected release comes a day before the 18th Congress goes on sine die adjournment on June 3.
The two Pharmally officials have been detained in the Pasay City Jail since November 2021 after they failed to produce the firm’s financial documents earlier subpoenaed during a Senate blue ribbon committee hearing.
The Senate blue ribbon panel headed by Senator Richard Gordon investigated Pharmally over alleged irregularities in government deals worth billions of pesos for COVID-19 response supplies.
