CAMP GEN. ALEJO SANTOS, Bulacan — Authorities on Wednesday said three people were confirmed killed when the second floor of a building being rented by a warehouse firm collapsed in City of Meycauayan on Tuesday.
Col. Charlie Cabradilla, Bulacan police director, identified the fatalities as Roel Preston, 38; Analyn Baldon, 35; and James Franklin Marcelo, 19, all workers of E-ONE Consumers Trading Corporation. The warehouse is located inside the Muralla Industrial Park in Barangay Libtong.
Cabradilla said the three were trapped under the rubble on the second floor of the building at about 5 p.m. on Tuesday.
The bodies of the three workers were retrieved between 11:35 p.m. on Tuesday and 7: 52 a.m. the following day.
Marcelo was earlier reported as missing. His body was found on Wednesday morning.
Another employee, who was identified as Marjorie Naling, 28, sustained injuries and was taken to a hospital for treatment.
Cabradilla said the second floor collapsed due to the overloading of stocks of solar panels and tents.
Col. Leandro Gutierrez, chief of Meycauayan police, said they were still investigating the incident to determine the possible charges they would file against the Chinese employer of the victims.
But a representative of the firm said the Chinese employer has shouldered the hospitalization of the survivor and the funeral expenses for the three fatalities.
