MANILA, Philippines — President Rodrigo Duterte has taken a swipe at drug personalities anew, saying they are just “carcasses” when they are killed under his bloody drug war.
Duterte made the remark during the recognition of the 31st Southeast Asian Games medalists at Malacañang Palace on Tuesday evening.
“Kaya ako pagka pinatay ka, you’re just a carcass to me. Wala akong ano sa — para sa akin aso ka. Sisirain mo talaga,” he said.
(So, for me, if you are killed, you’re just a carcass to me. I do not have — for me, you are a dog. You will destroy your family.)
“Ngayon ‘pag nasira na ‘yan, karamihan wala na, wala ng pagkain. Ang mga ano natin… Ito umiiyak na naman,” he added.
(Now, when it is destroyed, most have none, no food. They are crying.)
The President reiterated the need to do away with drugs as it “will destroy our country.”
He also criticized human rights groups again, saying that they are only looking at the list of the casualties under the drug war, and not the list of families that were destroyed by drug users.
“Kasi ilang pamilya ang masira niyan? Alam mo ‘yung human rights? Ito ‘yung listahan na pinatay ni Duterte. Hindi naman nila tiningnan ‘yung kabila, ilang pamilya ang sinira ng mga animal na ‘to?” he lamented.
(How many families will be destroyed? You know the human rights? This is the list of those killed by Duterte. They are not looking at the other side, how many families were destroyed by these animals?)
As of April 30, the drug war death toll stood at 6,248, the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency said.
Earlier, Duterte hoped that his successor would continue his war on drugs.
The incoming administration will be led by president-elect Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.
