DIGOS CITY––A policeman succumbed to multiple gunshot wounds after unidentified armed men shot him Tuesday in Matanao town, Davao del Sur.
Captain Flor Daisy Angga, acting Matanao police chief, identified the victim as Patrolman Hariz Jhun Adayo, 26, of Poblacion Uno, Bansalan, Davao del Sur.
Adayo was aboard his motorcycle from Bansalan, traveling to nearby Hagonoy town via the Matanao provincial road, when two motorcycle-riding men trailed him upon reaching Purok 1, Barangay New Visayas.

The men shot him several times, hitting him in different parts of his body, then fled after seeing Adayo fall.
First responders immediately rushed Adayo to the Davao del Sur Provincial Hospital in Digos City but attending physicians failed to revive the victim.
Angga said scene-of-the-crime operatives from the Provincial Crime Laboratory Office are now probing the incident area.
