MANILA, Philippines — The low pressure area (LPA) located near Surigao Del Sur was predicted to bring cloudy skies and rain over the entire regions of Visayas and Mindanao, as well as Bicol in Luzon, through Tuesday.

This was according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa), which also reported on Monday afternoon that the LPA was last spotted 130 km northeast of Davao City.

Pagasa weather specialist Obet Badrina said: “Posible po na magdala ito ng medyo maulap na kalangitan sa bahagi ng Bicol Region dahil kikilos pa-hilaga itong bahagi ng LPA na ating binabantayan.”

(It is possible that the LPA will bring a bit of a cloudy skies to parts of the Bicol Region because this part of the LPA will be moving northward.)

Badrina added that the LPA will also bring extensive rain especially around afternoon and evening in Visayas and Mindanao.

The rest of Luzon, meanwhile, will experience generally fair weather and hotter temperatures during the day time, although Badrina said chances of rain remain notably in the afternoon and evening.

Pagasa likewise issued the following temperature range in key cities/areas across the country for Tuesday:

Despite the LPA and prevailing southwest monsoon, the state weather bureau did not raise any gale warning over the country’s seaboards as it noted that only slight to moderate sea conditions can be expected throughout the Philippines’ coasts and in-land seas.

Badrina, however, warned fishermen and sailors of sudden thunderstorms that may suddenly change wave conditions.
