MANILA, Philippines – Tarlac, Negros Occidental, Palawan, and Agusan del Norte have experienced an uptick in COVID-19 cases, independent analytics group Octa Research fellow Guido David said Monday.

David however noted that the increase in COVID-19 cases is inconsistent.

“It’s still at low-risk ngayon pero hindi consistent iyong mga areas na nagkakaroon ng upticks. As of yesterday, kunwari, sa Tarlac ay may 12 cases sila. Sila iyong pangatlong pinakamataas na province sa Pilipinas,” he said in a Laging Handa public briefing.

“Iyong mga iba, may nakikita tayong medyo consistent like sa Negros Occidental, medyo [may] uptick diyan; at last week, sa Palawan at saka Agusan del Norte. Pero sa ngayon, medyo bumaba na iyong bilang ng kaso sa Palawan at saka sa Agusan del Norte,” he added.

(In other areas, we saw the uptick was somehow consistent in Negros Occidental, there’s a slight uptick there; and last week, in Palawan and Agusan del Norte. But now, the cases in Palawan and Agusan del Norte slightly decreased.)

David likewise said that Metro Manila and neighboring provinces may have a possible rise in COVID-19 infections.

“It’s still NCR (National Capital Region) mostly at saka iyong surrounding regions ng NCR – Calabarzon and Central Luzon – na posibleng may mga upticks,” he said.

David said that the reproduction number and positivity rate in Metro Manila have increased in the past week.
