Pagasa: Cloudy, wet Monday in Visayas, Mindanao due to LPA

MANILA, Philippines — Overcast skies and scattered rain showers will prevail in  the Visayas and Mindanao on Monday due to the low pressure area (LPA) off Surigao del Sur, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).

The LPA was last spotted  330 kilometers east of Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur, has a low chance of intensifying into a tropical cyclone.

“Mababa ang tsansa na maging bagyo pero kahit mababa ang tsansa na maging bagyo, inaasahan pa rin ang pag-ulan dulot ng low pressure area at ito’y maapektuhan sa Visayas at sa Mindanao,” Pagasa weather specialist Aldczar Aurelio said in a public weather forecast.

(While it has a low chance of becoming a tropical cyclone, the LPA is expected to trigger rain showers in the Visayas and Mindanao.)

Metro Manila and the entire Luzon will have a fair weather condition with possible isolated rain showers due to localized thunderstorms.

The southwest monsoon or “habagat” still prevails over the western part of Luzon.

Coastal waters will be moderate in the western section of Luzon and Visayas, with waves reaching up to 2.5 meters.
