NPA rebel in Occidental Mindoro yields to cops
CALAPAN CITY, Oriental Mindoro — A former New People’s Army member surrendered to police on Friday afternoon in Abra de Ilog town, Occidental Mindoro province, according to a report from Mimaropa (Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, Palawan) police office.
The alleged NPA rebel belonged to KLG Yam-Ay Lucio de Guzman Command, said the report.
Col. Rolando Lampad, chief of the Regional Mobile Force Battalion (RMFB 4B)in Oriental Mindoro, said “Ka Marlon”, 39, voluntary surrendered to members of the 402nd Battalion Maneuver Company in Barangay (village) Poblacion at around 2:00 p.m.
The suspect, who hails from Calapan City, is under police custody and will undergo debriefing prior to their enrollment in the Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program (E-CLIP).
From January 1 to May 27, 2022, Mimaropa police reported that 77 NPA members in the area have surrendered.
