2 rebels yield to cops in Eastern Samar

TACLOBAN CITY—Two former members of the New People’s Army (NPA) surrendered Wednesday to policemen in Eastern Samar.

‘Ka’ Ebir, 28; and ‘Ka’ Ogis, 29, turned themselves over to the 1st Eastern Samar Provincial Mobile Force Company (ESPMFC) based in Dolores town.

Ebir surrendered a 9mm caliber pistol, while Ogis handed a grenade.

The two decided to surrender, saying they were tired of fighting the government.

The two are now under temporary protection of the 1st ESPMFC as they were set to receive financial assistance under the Enhanced Comprehensive Livelihood Program (E-CLIP).

Brigadier Gen. Bernard Banac, the police regional director, expressed his gratitude to the 1st ESPMC for their relentless efforts in ending insurgency in the country.
