CEBU CITY—Policemen on Thursday afternoon checked at least four prominent places in this city after receiving a bomb threat.
Capt. Renz Talosig, the chief of the Mabolo Police Station, said an employee at the Qimonda IT Center, which houses the Cebu City trial courts, received at 1:57 p.m. a text message regarding explosive devices allegedly set up at the building.
Aside from Qimonda, the suspect said three other places in the city were also planted with explosives. These were the Cebu City Hall, Cebu Cordova Link Expressway, and Carbon Market.
The Police Regional Office in Central Visayas immediately sent bomb squads and K9 units to these places to validate the threat.
On his Facebook account, Cebu City Executive Judge Macaundas Hadjirasol announced that court hearings were suspended on Thursday afternoon.
This was the second time this year that the Cebu City courts have received bomb threats.
On March 11, some court employees also received a text message from an unknown individual that the court house would be bombed.
The threat turned out to be false.
