MANILA, Philippines — An additional 176 new cases of COVID-19 were added to the country’s total caseload on Wednesday, as shown in the Department of Health (DOH) COVID-19 Tracker.

With this, active cases slightly increased from Tuesday’s 2,235 to 2,257.

Wednesday’s new infections were also slightly higher than the 173 average number of infections recorded the previous week, from May 16 to 22, with a total of 1,214 cases.

This puts the total number of confirmed infections to 3,689,457 nationwide, with 3,626,745 recoveries and 60,455 deaths.

Meanwhile, 21,794 individuals were tested on Tuesday, May 24.

In the last report of DOH during President Rodrigo’s “Talk to the People” on Monday, the DOH reported that the majority of the country’s regions continued to be at “minimal risk” for COVID-19 transmission, while six others were currently at “low risk.”

However, almost all had begun showing a positive growth rate in the number of infections from May 16 to 23.
