MANILA, Philippines — Lawyer and radio commentator-vlogger Rose Beatrix “Trixie” Cruz-Angeles has been named as the press secretary of presumptive president Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.
Atty. Vic Rodriguez, Marcos’ chief-of-staff and incoming executive secretary, said Wednesday Cruz-Angeles has accepted the offer to serve as press secretary and to head the Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO).
Part of Cruz-Angeles’ tasks as PCOO chief and press secretary is to serve as “talking head during press briefings,” said Rodriguez.
“I am grateful for the opportunity I am given to take part in the administration of President Bongbong Marcos as his Press Secretary,” Cruz-Angeles was quoted as saying in a press release of the Marcos camp.
“It is with humility that I accept the nomination and assume the responsibility of running the affairs of the PCOO,” she added.
Cruz-Angeles graduated from the University of the Philippines with a Bachelor of Arts in Linguistics and later a Bachelor of Laws. She became a spokeswoman for the Integrated Bar of the Philippines after being accepted to the Philippine bar in 1998. She is presently studying archaeology for her master’s degree.
In the media and publishing industries, Cruz-Angeles joined two of DWIZ’s top-rated radio shows. She also contributed to INQUIRER.net’s Global Nation for a time, writing about art and law.
“As we take on this new challenge, the PCOO will play an important role to communicate the message of unity espoused by incoming President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. We shall remain steadfast in communicating all policies and programs that are key to nation-building,” she said.
“The PCOO will continue to reach out to all sectors and the most remote regions to ensure citizens’ proper discernment and cooperation, using only accurate and relevant government information.”
