MANILA, Philippines — The Commission on Elections (Comelec) is eyeing to proclaim winning partylist groups by May 26 or 27, acting poll body spokesperson John Rex Laudiangco said Tuesday.
The Comelec will wait for the results of the special elections currently held in 12 barangays in Tubaran town, Lanao del Sur.
“To be more accurate about it, we’re looking at either May 26 or May 27 for the proclamation,” said Laudiangco in a press briefing.
“Dahil tandaan po ninyo… mamaya pa pong 7 p.m. matatapos ang special elections sa Tubaran and the results of these precincts will have to be transmitted and canvassed by the Municipal Board of Canvassers (MBOC) in Tubaran,” he added.
(Because remember… The special elections in Tubaran will end at 7 p.m. and the results of these precincts will have to be transmitted and canvassed by the municipal board of canvassers in Tubaran.)
The MBOC Tubaran will then transmit the certificate of canvass (COC) to the Provincial Board of Canvassers of Lanao del Sur.
From PBOC Lanao del Sur, Comelec is expecting to receive the COC by Wednesday, said Laudiangco.
“Ang timetable na inaasahan natin ng proclamation is on the 26th. Tatapusin po lahat kasi ng proseso and we really are gunning for proclaiming the 63 seats with the hope na sana ‘yun pong natitira sa Shanghai na 1,991 ay hindi na makakaapekto and the results of Lanao del Sur will be sufficient to complete, not only the 63 seats but the determine also their standing,” he explained.

We will complete all processes and we really are gunning for proclaiming the 63 seats with the hope that 1,991 registered voters in Shanghai will not affect the results and the results of Lanao del Sur will be sufficient to complete, not only the 63 seats, but also determine their standing.)
The Comelec is likewise eyeing to conduct special elections in Shanghai, China as registered voters there were not able to go out and cast their votes due to lockdown caused by a COVID-19 surge.
So far, the poll body has not set a date for the special elections in Shanghai.
To date, the Anti-Crime and Terrorism Community Involvement and Support (ACT-CIS) group is leading the partylist race.
