CEBU CITY––Cebu Gov. Gwendolyn Garcia has extended the ban on live poultry and wild birds from Luzon and Mindanao to avoid the entry of bird flu into the province.
“Cebu remains free of the Avian Influenza virus, and the recent AI outbreaks from provinces in Luzon and Mindanao continue to pose a threat to the P12-billion poultry industry of Cebu,” Garcia wrote in Executive Order (EO) 14 dated May 23.
The governor issued a similar EO covering a ban on live poultry and wild birds on April 9 for 45 days. The new EO has no end date.
The order covers live birds, including day-old chicks, day-old pullets, ready-to-lay pullets, ducks, quails, game fowls, pigeons, and pet birds from Luzon, Mindanao, and other AI-affected areas and countries.
