MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) on Monday announced that the regional wage board of Region V has proposed to increase the daily wage in Bicol by P55.
According to DOLE in a statement, the Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board V issued Wage Order No. RBV-20, recommending the increase of minimum wage in Bicol region in two tranches.
The order suggested that a P35-increase be added upon the effectivity of a wage order and another P20 on December 1 this year, to bring the new minimum wage rate in Bicol to P365 for all sectors.
Also, the Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board V issued RBV-DW-02, which aims to grant a monthly pay increase of P1,000 for chartered cities and first-class municipalities, and another P1,500 for other municipalities, bringing the new monthly wage rate for domestic workers in the region to P4,000.
The said order is expected to protect around 94,042 domestic workers, the DOLE said in a statement.
The DOLE further said the new wage orders were already submitted to the National Wages Productivity Commission for review and once approved, the new minimum wage increases should take effect 15 days after publication in a newspaper of general circulation.
