MANILA, Philippines – A letter-complaint was filed in the Senate by a group against Senator Miriam Defensor-Santiago for using the word “gago” to refer the prosecution team in the impeachment of Chief Justice Renato Corona.

In a letter to Senate Minority Leader Alan Cayetano, chairman of the Senate ethics committee dated March 8, 2012 but was only furnished to media on Monday, the group “Born Free Coalition for Truth and Justice” accused Santiago of allegedly exceeding “the bounds of propriety, good manners and right conduct in her public tirade as senator judge against the prosecution panel.”

The letter was signed by a certain “Uncle Bob,” and below it was the name Socorro L. Guatlo Jr.

“That on Day 26 of the Corona impeachment trial, the said incident “Mga gago naman…” against the prosecution is an insult to the members of the prosecution team and an indignation to the millions of Filipino people who are currently listening and watching the impeachment trial,” said the letter.

“Her (Santiago) is (indirect) insult in the Integrated Bar of the Philippines taking into consideration that most of them are lawyers as well as members of the House of (Representatives),” it said.
