Prosecution files request for defense to disclose order of presentation of evidence
MANILA, Philippines – Members of the prosecution team have asked the Senate, sitting as an impeachment court, to direct the defense team to disclose its order of the presentation of evidence.
The request was contained in a two-page motion filed by the prosecution team last Friday, a copy of which was only furnished to the media this Monday.
“During the presentation of prosecution evidence, the prosecutors formally manifested the order of presentation of evidence for the information of the honorable tribunal as well as members of the defense panel,” said the motion.
“In order to afford the prosecutors the opportunity to properly prepare for the reception of defense evidence, it is respectfully prayed that the defense panel be directed to inform the honorable tribunal as well as the prosecutors of the order by which it shall present its evidence,” it said.
“Wherefore, it is respectfully prayed that the defense panel be directed to manifest for the record of the order of its presentation of evidence,” it further said.
After a weeklong break, the impeachment trial of Chief Justice Renato Corona is set to resume this Monday at 2:00 in the afternoon.
