CITY OF MALOLOS–At least two towns in Bulacan have zero active COVID-19 cases while the province had a notable slight increase of active cases within the past two weeks.
Sta. Maria and San Miguel towns have had zero cases since May 16, Bulacan Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit (PESU) data said.
Dr. Hijordis Marushka Celis, Bulacan COVID-19 Task Force vice chair, said municipalities with already zero active cases have recorded one to two cases recently.
The active cases in Bulacan had remained at minimal with 60 cases in the previous weeks.
As of May 19, active COVID-19 cases slightly increased to 83 from 76 on the previous day.
On May 2, active cases were at 65. On May 16, there were 66 active cases recorded.
Brian Alfonso, PESU surveillance officer, said the increase continues to be minimal. He said noncompliance to minimum health protocol or the super spreader events during the recent election season could be blamed if cases continue to rise within the next two weeks.
Bocaue, with its 15 cases, has the highest record followed by Meycauayan City with 13, San Jose del Monte City with 10, Hagonoy with nine and Marilao with five.
Bulacan’s total COVID-19 cases is at 109,471, with 1,688 recorded deaths and 107,700 recoveries since the pandemic started in March 2020.
