2 alleged car thieves slain in Laguna
CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna – Two suspected car thieves were killed in what police said was a shootout with pursuing policemen in Sta. Rosa City, Laguna early Saturday.
Senior Superintendent Gilbert Cruz, Laguna police director, said in a text message that the shootout happened at around 2:30 a.m. in Barangay (village) Tagapo.
He said the two alleged thieves, whose identities were still unknown, were the first to fire at the pursuing policemen. The two men died of multiple gunshot wounds.
Superintendent Ismael Fernandez, Sta. Rosa’s police chief, said by phone that the authorities chased the two men after they were spotted on a motorcycle (plate number 6757-WC) that was reported stolen from one Allan Blanco at midnight on Friday.
The police said they recovered a .38-caliber revolver and a hand grenade from the slain men.
