Padilla still leads senatorial race in Comelec’s latest partial, official count

MANILA, Philippines — Actor-turned-politician Robin Padilla continued to lead the senatorial race based on the latest partial and official count of the Commission on Elections (Comelec) released Monday.

Based on Comelec’s report on partial and official votes in the senatorial race, Padilla garnered 26,491,176 votes followed by House Deputy Speaker Loren Legarda who got 24,180,823 votes.

Legarda was followed by broadcaster Raffy Tulfo who received 23,342,613 votes.

The following senatorial candidates also made the “Magic 12”:

Sherwin Gatchalian – 20,545,327 votes
Francis Escudero – 20,239,033 votes
Mark Villar – 19,400,167 votes
Alan Peter Cayetano – 19,260,370 votes
Juan Miguel Zubiri – 18,661,089 votes
Joel Villanueva – 18,438,664 votes
JV Ejercito – 15,801,915 votes
Risa Hontiveros – 15,384,530 votes
Jinggoy Estrada – 15,069,329 votes

Just outside the Magic 12 are former Vice President Jojo Binay (13,243,613 votes), former Quezon City mayor Herbert Bautista (13,046,931 votes), and former defense secretary Gibo Teodoro (12,751,235 votes).

The Comelec said it will proclaim winning senatorial candidates on Wednesday afternoon, May 18.
