MANILA, Philippines — The Senate has received nearly 74 percent of all expected certificates of canvass (COCs) of votes cast for the presidential and vice presidential races ahead of Congress’ canvassing next week.
As of 7:11 a.m. on Monday, 128 COCs or 73.99 percent of 173 COCs have been delivered to the upper chamber, according to the Senate Public Relations and Information Bureau (PRIB).
COCs recently transmitted to the Senate were from Quezon province, Isabela, Mountain Province, Lapu-Lapu City, Davao del Norte, General Santos City, Sultan Kudarat and North Cotabato.
The chamber also accepted overseas absentee voting COCs from India, Lebanon and Italy, the Senate PRIB added.
The Senate and the House of Representatives are expected to convene as the National Board of Canvassers on May 24 to canvass votes for the presidential and vice presidential posts.
The partial and unofficial count by the Commission on Elections showed former senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. leading the presidential race with over 31.09 million votes while his chief rival, Vice President Leni Robredo, garnered 14.81 million votes.
In the vice presidential race, Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpip is leading with 31.55 million while Senator Francis Pangilinan is second with 9.230 million votes.
