Woman killed after ambulance hits motorcycle in Quezon

LUCENA CITY – A woman riding a motorcycle was killed after being hit by a government-owned ambulance along the bypass road in Sariaya, Quezon on Thursday (May 12) night.

The Sariaya police reported Friday that Mary Ann Tanyang, 32, was driving her motorcycle when she was hit by the ambulance driven by Romualdo Alcala, 53, on a section of the bypass road in Barangay Tumbaga 1 around 7:10 p.m.

Tanyang died while being taken to the nearest hospital. The report did not say if she was wearing a crash helmet.

The police said the ambulance was coming from the opposite direction and was overtaking another vehicle when it hit the motorcycle.

Investigators said the ambulance was registered to the local government of Sariaya, and Alcala was its designated driver. INQ
