The Commission on Elections (Comelec) en banc has affirmed the dismissal of a motion for reconsideration (MR) filed by Danilo Lihaylihay to declare presumptive president Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. a nuisance candidate in the 2022 polls.
In a five-page resolution dated May 11, the Comelec said Lihaylihay failed to raise new matters or issues, and the grounds that would warrant the reversal of the assailed resolution.
The decision was signed by Comelec chair Saidamen Pangarungan and Commissioners Socorro Inting, Marlon Casquejo, Aimee Ferolino, Rey Bulay, and Aimee Torrefranca-Neri.
Earlier, the Comelec en banc also denied the consolidated MR filed by Bonifacio Ilagan, et al., Akbayan Party and Abubakar Mangelen; as well as the appeal of Fr. Christian Buenafe, et al. against Marcos. —TINA G. SANTOS
