Bomb scare in Dumaguete a false alarm

DUMAGUETE CITY––A bomb scare in this city on Wednesday evening, May 11, turned out to be a false alarm.

Lt. Col. Joseson Parallag, Dumaguete City Police chief, said the abandoned box that triggered the bomb scare contained only pyrotechnics.

The local police said they received an alert about the suspicious box that had been left since Tuesday in a small store in Barangay Candau-ay, Dumaguete City.

The store owner, who declined to be identified, told investigators that a man asked permission if he could leave his box for a while.

The store owner agreed.

However, the store owner got alarmed when the man never came back.

The Police Explosive Ordnance Disposal and a K9 group checked and blasted the suspicious box but found no explosive device inside.
