Tagbilaran City’s first lady mayor proclaimed

Jane Yap makes history as the first female candidate to win the mayoral race in Tagbilaran City.

TAGBILARAN CITY — The first lady mayor of this city was proclaimed on Tuesday, May 10.

Jane Yap got a total of 38,584 votes while her rival Dan Lim garnered 10,458 votes.

She was accompanied by her husband, outgoing mayor John Geesnell “Baba” Yap, and family.

In an earlier interview, Yap said she will continue the projects and brand of service her husband has started.

“Our priority is to keep our city more progressive. We all know that there is still a pandemic, and the next three years will be very critical for Tagbilaran City. It is also critical that the pandemic will hinder the progress but we will continue what Mayor Baba has already started, ” she said.

Yap founded the charitable organization “Gugma Tagbilaran” which helps the different sectors in the city.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, she raised funds for the frontliners and distributed thermometers and pulse oximeters to families, and conducted regular feeding to children.
