MANILA, Philippines — Former Parañaque Rep. Eric Olivarez has been proclaimed as the city’s new mayor.
Based on the 100% transmitted election returns from the Commission on Elections (Comelec), Olivarez garnered 174,816 votes, which is more than twice what his opponent Jun Saide, who served as the Barangay Baclaran chairman, got with 64,263 votes.
This is based on Comelec’s transparency server.
“Ang akin pong taos pusong pasasalamat sa lahat ng nagtiwala at sumuporta sa aking adhikaing maging Ama ng Lungsod ng Parañaque. Isang malaking karangalan ang kayong lahat ay pagsilbihan,” Olivarez said in a Facebook post on his proclamation.
(My heartfelt gratitude to those who trusted and supported me in my goal to be the father of Parañaque. It is a big honor to serve you all.)
Eric Olivarez is the brother of Metro Manila Council chairman and former Parañaque Mayor Edwin Olivarez.
Edwin won as congressman of the city with 90,754 votes.
