Tuason couple wins big in Masbate City polls

MASBATE CITY––Socrates Tuason’s comeback to his old post as mayor in this city became a reality Tuesday morning, May 10, after he was declared the winner in the mayoral race.

His wife and running mate Rowena Tuason, the Masbate City mayor, also succeeded in the vice mayoral race in the national and local elections.

Socrates, who ran unopposed, was declared the winner by the Board of Canvassers of Masbate City after garnering 25,754 votes, while Mayor Rowena Tuason secured the vice mayoral post after receiving 21,115 votes against city councilor Alex San Pablo.

Twelve city councilors were also declared winners in the elections. The top-voted city councilor is Masbate City Vice Mayor Ruby Sanchez, who is on her last term.

The other winning city councilors are Rodolfo Abella with 30,596 votes; Albert Abayon with 28,939 votes; Rosemarie Salvacion with 28,800 votes; Jamon Espares with 27,703 votes; Meden Diez with 25,225 votes; Dennis Placer with 24,919 votes; Ramil Yaneza with 24,639 votes; Allan Lim with 24,448 votes; Jasper Bala with 23,834 votes; Jerry Rey with 22,883 votes; and Jolo Romualdez with 16,488 votes.
