CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga––Five governors in Central Luzon won their reelection bids, an unofficial count showed.

The apparent winners are Bulacan Gov. Daniel Fernando, Nueva Ecija Gov. Oyie Umali, Pampanga Gov. Dennis Pineda, Zambales Gov. Jun Ebdane, and unopposed Tarlac Gov. Susan Yap.

Lawyer Christian Noveras won as governor of Aurora province, while his father, former governor Gerardo Noveras dominated the vice governor’s race.

In a successful switch, Bataan Rep. Joet Garcia won unopposed as governor while his elder brother, Gov. Albert Garcia, trumped Laissa Roque.

In Pampanga, at least 14 mayors obtained a fresh mandate, while three mayors lost.

Reelected were: Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin Jr., of Angeles City, Crisostomo Garbo of Mabalacat City, Diman Datu of Bacolor, Rene Maglanque of Candaba, Darwin Manalansan of Floridablanca, Bobong Flores in Macabebe, Teddy Tumang in Mexico, Jing Capil in Porac, Abundio Punzalan in San Simon, Ross Gamboa in Sta. Ana.

Oscar Tetangco Jr. of Apalit, Esmie Pineda of Lubao, and Dr. Jay Sagum of San Luis won unopposed.

Newbie mayors Tonton Torres won in Guagua, Tonton Bustos in Masantol, Philip Naguit in Minalin and Vilma Caluag in the City of San Fernando.

Comebacking mayors Lina Cabrera-Bagasina succeeded in Sasmuan, Malu Paras-Lacson in Magalang, Art Salalila in Sta. Rita, and Johnny Sambo in Sto. Tomas.
