PUERTO PRINCESA CITY—The local board of canvassers on Tuesday proclaied Lucilo Bayron as this city’s mayor, serving his fourth term.

Bayron won with a huge margin of 73,047 votes against opposition bet Peter Maristela, as certified by City Board of Canvassers chairperson Shiela Sison.

Bayron has been the local chief executive since 2013 and was allowed to run for the fourth term after his term of office was deemed interrupted when he was suspended from office in 2017. The suspension stemmed from an Ombudsman decision in January 2017 over a case of dishonesty and grave misconduct.

Running mate Nancy Socrates also secured the vice mayoral seat with a landslide win against opponent Gerry Abad.

The new city councilors were also proclaimed, including Patrick Hagedorn, Raine Bayron, Luis Marcaida III, Feliboy Oliveros, Jimmy Carbonell, Elgin Damasco, Jonjie Rodriguez, Herbert Dilig, Nesario Awat, and Henry Gadiano.
