Bohol gov concedes defeat to Aumentado

TAGBILARAN CITY—Gov. Arthur Yap has conceded defeat to Rep. Erico Aristotle Aumentado in the gubernatorial race in Bohol province.

“We have fought the good fight, and the people have spoken,” said Yap in a statement posted Tuesday, May 10, on Facebook.

“I wish to congratulate Congressman Erico Aristotle Aumentado for winning the gubernatorial race in Bohol,” he added.

Yap thanked the people of Bohol for supporting his political journey.

“To all who supported me in my political journey, I will forever be grateful to all of you even as I now announce the closure of my involvement in local politics. Now, let us put aside differences and unite for the future of Bohol,” he said.

After his stint as agriculture secretary, Yap served as congressman of the third district before he became governor in 2019.

As of 6:17 a. m., May 10, Yap has 281,334 votes while Aumentado has 466,089, according to the partial and unofficial results of the Commision on Elections Transparency Media Server.
