Makati City Mayor Abby Binay wins reelection bid

Frowning on the idea of declaring “Poblacion girl” a persona non grata, Makati City Mayor Abby Binay instead urged the owner of the bar to press charges against the quarantine violator who partied in their establishment.

MANILA, Philippines — Reelectionist Makati City Mayor Abby Binay was proclaimed winner of the mayoral race by the Commission on Elections (Comelec) Tuesday morning.

Data from the Comelec on Tuesday showed that Binay got 338,819 votes, defeating her rival independent candidate Joel Hernandez who received 16,640 votes.

Makati City Vice Mayor Monique Lagdameo likewise had a successful reelection bid, beating independent candidate Rod Biolena. Lagdameo got 314,070 while Biolena had 22,498 votes.

Incumbent congressmen Romulo “Kid” Peña of the first district and Luis Campos of the second district were likewise reelected.

The results were based on the election returns transmitted from all 615 clustered precincts in the city.
