LIGAO CITY — The election process in the Bicol region has been smooth so far based on the overall assessment of the Commission on Elections (Comelec) Bicol on Monday evening.

But lawyer Maria Juana Valeza, Comelec Bicol election director, in a text message told Inquirer that glitches were experienced in different parts of the region but those were immediately addressed.

“There were 41 defective VCMs (vote-counting machines) and five corrupted SD cards but so far it was resolved already,” she said.

She said contingency plans are readied just in case technical issues arise.
