Faulty vote-counting machine reported in Santiago City

SANTIAGO CITY, Philippines–A vote-counting machine (VCM) broke down at Dubinan Elementary School here on Monday afternoon, May 9, authorities said.

The faulty VCM, which serviced clustered precincts 66A, 66B, 67A and 67B in the said voting center, overheated and failed to read ballots.

As a result, the voting was halted for almost two hours.

The machine was immediately replaced and the voting resumed, according to the local office of the Commission on Elections.  /ra
