LEGAZPI CITY––The Parish Pastoral Council for Responsible Voting-National Citizens’ Movement for Free Elections (PPCRV-Namfrel) is anticipating a high voter turnout in Albay in the 2022 national and local elections on Monday.
Fr. Eric Martillano, PPCRV-Namfrel Albay chairperson, said they were expecting more than 90 percent of voter turnout because of the active involvement of the communities in the campaign.
“During our voters’ education activities in the different communities, people were very enthusiastic to vote,” he said.
He said that in previous elections, the province recorded only 70 percent voter turnout.
The priest said the youth nowadays are more engaged in the campaign while many inactive voters were encouraged to reactivate their records at the Commission on Elections.
The PPCRV-Namfrel also noted an increase in volunteers from 2,300 last elections to 4,100 this year from 49 parishes.
