Power outage hits 2 poll precincts in Cebu City

CEBU CITY––A 30-minute power outage on May 9 hit two polling precincts in the villages of Suba and Pasil in this city.

Nenita Nacional, principal of the Pasil Elementary School and supervisor of the polling center, said the power interruption occurred at 7:47 a.m.

The outage affected at least 21 clustered precincts, including the Pasil Night High School.

A generator set was immediately set up so the voting process could continue.

Nacional said they heard an explosion before the power interruption.

Quennie Sanchez-Bronze, spokesperson of Visayan Electric, said a dove, which was electrocuted, caused the power interruption.

Nacional said emergency lights were used to light up the rooms.

Power was restored at 8:34 a.m.
