ILOILO CITY—Long lines of voters in polling precincts have been observed early Monday in many areas in Western Visayas, indicating a large turnout in the national and local elections.
Voters were lining up by the time precincts opened at 6 a.m.
But some have complained of the long wait.
A voter in Sigma town in Capiz was lining up outside the precinct at 6:30 a.m. She was the 47th in the line, but she still had not voted as of 9:45 a.m.
The poll watchdog Kontra Daya in Western Visayas said they received reports of problems with vote-counting machines (VCMs), including paper jams and unrecognizable ballots.
“We also received reports that poll watchers identified with Marcos-Duterte-Carpio (tandem) are volunteering to feed ballots to the vote- counting machines, which is prohibited,” Fr. Marco Sulayao, Kontra Daya Western Visayas spokesperson, said.
